Who can fund a Project

All WinnersFund Campaigns are hybrid in nature. In other words, the Project Owner may choose to offer Rewards (non-financial), Equity over the Company that will materialise the Project (the only acceptable return of financial nature), or a combination of the two (Equity and Rewards). So, who can fund a Project? It depends on the anticipated returns:

Anyone living anywhere may fund a Project offering Rewards, or refusing to accept any return for their funding

Almost anyone in the world who is 18 years old or above and in possession of a valid Credit or Debit Card may fund any Project hosted in WinnersFund if choosing to receive only Rewards (i.e. no Equity) or nothing at all (i.e. to make a Donation).

Please check here in the unlikely event that you consider your country of residence might be one of the very few countries included in any of the lists "High-risk and non-cooperative Jurisdictions" (exclusion list 1), "Improving Global AML/CFT Compliance: on-going processs" (exclusion list 2) or "Jurisdictions not making sufficient progress" (exclusion list 3) to the residents of which the WinnersFund services are not available to.

When it comes to Equity, it's a little complicated

Only residents of certain European Economic Area (EEA) countries may fund (invest in) a Project in return for Equity, and that also depending on each Campaign’s funding target.

Due to regulatory restrictions, Equity returns (transferrable securities, i.e. transferrable company shares) through WinnersFund are only available to Funders (investors) who are residing in certain EEA countries. These are the countries that WinnersFund has fully confirmed its business model compliance with local regulations.

The general rule is that, when a Project Owner offers registered securities*, investing in the Equity part of a Campaign is available to residents of most of the EEA's 31 countries.

Regarding unregistered securities, explanation is provided in the Table below. The Table is under constant review, therefore once interested you should consult it periodically.

“Registered Securities” are transferable shares that are openly available to the general public only after the competent Regulator, i.e. the local Securities and Markets supervising Authority, grants an explicit authorisation of an informative document called a "Prospectus".

* “Unregistered Securities” are transferable shares that are openly available to the general public without any prerequisites of prior registration with a Regulator.

Filtering method

Filtering is performed on a user level. This means that:

-       All registered users are required to state their country of residence before funding a Project.

-       Funding through any Campaign offering Equity (i.e. investing) may be either available or unavailable for each registered user separately, depending on the user's country of residence. This occurs in accordance to our country-specific policy illustrated on the above table.
